Food Service ID Cards
ID cards used in school systems take a special beating. They're generally used in multiple systems, such as food service, library checkout and access control. But students often find additional uses (or abuses) for their ID cards; such as scraping ice from the car window, or sending them through the washer & dryer. We even know of an instance where an ID card was placed under a car's rear wheel to provide traction when the car was stuck in the snow (and it worked —the car was freed!). On top of that, schools often issue ID cards to last four years.

Reader Technology The technology used on your ID card depends upon the type of card reader you'll select with your food service and/or library checkout system. The most common technologies are magnetic stripe and bar code. (Library systems most commonly use bar code wands to scan the bar codes on the books and the users' cards.) IDenticard high coercivity magnetic stripes are protected with Magnacote, an exclusive covering that gives superior protection against abrasion and wear for both the stripe and the reader. Unlike other coatings, Magnacote helps keep the reader head close to the magnetic stripe to assure consistently good readings.  IDenticard's half-inch high coercivity stripes allow multiple track encoding. That means your cards can accommodate two or more different encoding sequences on the same magnetic stripe. Our high coercivity coated stripes are rated at 2,750 oersted, virtually eliminating accidental erasures and read errors. The stripe's constant density makes encoding easy. You may encode your cards yourself or order them already encoded from IDenticard.
 Bar Code
There was a time when using a bar code system involved applying sticky labels to your cards; a time-consuming process of making sure each label was carefully placed in exactly the right spot. With IDenticard, you can say good-bye to messy bar code labels. With our badges, you print bar codes directly on the badge. Bar codes print clearly, cleanly and accurately — at the same time you're printing individuals' names.
Our bar code software enables you to do the laser-printing yourself. Or we can get you started by printing your names and bar codes from the information you provide us on computer disk. We'll deliver your cards all ready for photo placement, lamination and issue. Then you can use the software for new hires and replacement badges.
We also provide special camouflage techniques to protect your bar codes from improper copying. Cover Code camouflages the bar code with straight bars or even your organization's distinctive logo. The design does not detract from the design of your card. Nor does it affect the laminate bond as much as most other types of covers. Reader CompatibilityThere are three ways to make sure your food service ID cards will work in your systems: test, test, test.
