IDenticard Awarded Patent for Contactless Smart Card Technology

Lancaster, PA (May 10, 2002) -- IDenticard, a leading producer of security identification and access control systems, has been awarded a patent for laminated contactless smart cards using the Mifare architecture platform.

Called IDentiSMART, the development brings the benefits of smart card technology to a much wider segment of the marketplace than was formerly available through traditional smart cards based on conventional PVC substrates.

The new product offers substantially reduced costs, lower minimum quantity requirements and far shorter lead times than PVC smart cards, said IDenticard president Robert L. Hager. "IDentiSMART is a versatile, affordable, and portable database that opens a wide range of potential applications to commercial and institutional users of every size, including medium- and smaller-sized organizations. Even companies with 100 employees will find IDentiSMART an affordable alternative for data management systems involving individual names, employee numbers, access authorizing codes, biometric templates and other data. Regardless of the type of data they use, customers will be able to store that information in the card's chip, in a medium that's fast, efficient and affordable". The product is also well-suited to the needs of large-scale operations such as metropolitan transit systems, road toll and airline ticketing applications, he said.

IDentiSMART cards are available in several sizes and may be readily produced on economical inkjet and laser printers.
