IDenticard Introduces Stand-Alone Access Panel for Smaller Applications

Lancaster, PA (August 1, 2001) – IDenticard, a leading producer of security identification and access control systems, has announced the release of Centurion -- a stand-alone, two-reader access control panel designed for use in small applications. Centurion is positioned as an economically-priced alternative for businesses that simply need access control at one or two doors.

"Centurion caters to those businesses that do not have an immediate need for a larger access system," said Aaron Henderson, IDenticard's access control product manager. "It's competitively priced, extremely versatile, and packed with a lot of useful features." Yet, when the need arises to expand the system, multiple units can be added easily to provide additional security coverage at a reasonable cost.

As a stand-alone unit, Centurion installs easily with minimal wiring. Each panel can control two doors and, in most cases, Centurion can be placed near the door to be controlled. In addition, Centurion can be programmed from a laptop computer. "Because Centurion does not need to be connected to a central monitoring PC, it offers a great deal of flexibility," said Henderson. "You can install the controllers to accommodate the layout of the building or the area to be secured."

Centurion also offers a variety of options for card reader types, cardholder programming, relay input, alarm activation, and report management. Its key features include:

  • Capacity for up to 2,500 cardholders
  • Compatibility with most industry standard readers
  • Automatic lock enable/disable
  • Time zone controls with override option
  • Antipassback
  • Latching relay cards
  • Parking lot feature that maintains a running total of cards in an area
  • Supervisor rule
