IDentiGuard™ Reduces the Risk of ID Card Tampering
If you've ever been concerned about the alteration, replication or simulation of your organization's security ID cards, IDentiGuard -- IDenticard's innovative and tamper-resistant solution -- is a must-have, according to Charles Smith, network administrator, LaPorte City Police Department, IN. "The peace of mind of knowing a police ID could not be scanned or copied for duplication, made the decision to go with IDentiGuard a no-brainer for us," said Smith. IDentiGuard's additional layer of security can be applied to ID card programs of all sizes (as few as 100 cards) and all types -- laminated, PVC and proximity. With IDentiGuard, verification is achieved simply with a flash of the card, thanks to a photo-chromatic material embedded into the card. You select the image to appear on your card -- your own logo, graphic design or one of IDenticard's standard designs. Once embedded in the card, the color and appearance of the image change, depending on the viewing angle. The image requires no special device for viewing and cannot be replicated or simulated using color scanners or copiers. Among LaPorte City PD employees, Smith said the flag graphic they chose for their IDs has been especially well-received. It's those seemingly little touches that can make a big difference. "That flag represents what we're all about," said Smith. "Everyone really likes it." Foil-backed holographic labels also an economical option When news of the availability of an added layer of security reached the VA Long Beach Healthcare System in California, the organization was quick to take advantage of the economical option of IDenticard's foil-backed holographic labels, which feature IDenticard's 3-D logo. This Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center has four satellite facilities and approximately 1,800 employees and 1,500 volunteers who require badging. The healthcare system meets its badging needs with the IVIS Plus 1000 digital imaging system and JetPak laminated badges. Kevin Holt, a security assistant with the healthcare system, said that at this time, the holographic labels presented the most economical solution for the healthcare system. When tampered with, an easy-to-spot checkerboard pattern appears on the label. "The employees have commented about how much they like the label's appearance," he said. In the future, Holt said the healthcare system may be combining its photo badging and security systems, so they may consider a customized IDentiGuard card that identifies their organization as unique.
