Cunningham Fire Protection District:
Fired Up About IDentiPASS™
With increased funding from the Department of Homeland Security, Cunningham Fire Protection District (CFPD) in Denver, Colorado, has selected IDenticard to step up its security measures.
"Fire protection districts nationwide are hustling to meet a higher demand for safety and security," said David B. Markham, CFPD's Division Chief of Support Services. "For us, it was a matter of finding a simple solution with power features. IDenticard is a great fit."
Located in Arapahoe County, CFPD covers 14.5 square miles, providing fire, emergency medical service, hazardous materials, and public assistance responses to the County's 65,000 residents. We have three fire stations and an administrative building to protect, so IDenticard's solution is appealing because it is networkable. We can roll out the system to each of our facilities," said Markham. For access control and security identification, Cunningham Fire chose IDentiPASS PLUS -- IDenticard's most sophisticated access control product. "Now, if necessary, we can immediately lock down each building remotely or locally."
When comparing IDenticard's system to the others they reviewed, Markham said IDentiPASS was clearly their preferred choice for several reasons. "We were impressed by the architecture of the system, the quality of its components and its competitive price." IDentiPASS has proven equally impressive to the CFPD team. "In less than 30 minutes, all designated staff knew how to use the software," said Markham. He lists the reporting capabilities of IDentiPASS as another notable benefit. "The system is simple to query and the variety and depth of the reports you can run and the speed of the process is amazing," he said.
In the future, CFPD would like to offer meeting space to community organizations. "With IDentiPASS, our community members are assured of a safe, secure place to gather," said Markham. In addition to controlling access to the buildings, IDentiPASS secures CFPD's emergency medical equipment, including drugs. "We control precisely who has access to those rooms and when they have it. IDentiPASS provides documentation of it all."
Guiding CFPD through every step of installation is IDenticard partner Wideband Communications, Centennial, Colorado. Wideband Communications specializes in security and communications systems for public safety, schools, industry, and government. Their services include door alarming, access control, video surveillance, radio, paging, and more. "IDentiPASS is performing to our expectations," said Markham. "We're very pleased with Wideband's work."
Cunningham Fire's fully integrated IDenticard security solution also includes IVIS Plus -- the company's own digital imaging technology designed to meet the needs of organizations of all sizes. Markham said that creating photo ID badges on-site for employees is "as easy as click, print, and go."
Protecting the photo ID badge itself was another concern for CFPD. With ID card counterfeiting and alteration on the rise, security professionals nationwide are demanding enhanced card security. CFPD reduced the risk of fraud with IDentiGUARD -- a customized security process, exclusively from IDenticard, that allows a logo or holographic image to be seen in an array of colors. When applied to an ID card, this added layer of protection provides ID cards of all types with superior tamper-resistance, image security, and exceptional card durability.
In the near future, CFPD also will be integrating another key component of the IDentiPASS PLUS system -- a dynamic mapping module that will enable them to monitor alarms, relays, and doors through a floor plan/graphic map interface. Powered by Ortega InfoSystems, PASSPort can be accessed via a web browser and also provides live video viewing from IP-addressable cameras. "This module will automatically notify key staff whenever a critical alarm has been triggered and exactly where the event has occurred," said Markham.
