Ozark Mountains House Underground Vault
Secured by IDentiPASS™
A 160-foot-thick rock roof, an underground climate-controlled vault with 24-7 monitoring, and biometric fingerprint technology, didn't offer enough protection to meet the security standards at Ozark Mountain Underground Vault and Storage (OMUVS). So the company integrated IDenticard System's IDentiPASS access control system. Now, this facility, built into the side of a mountain, is secure, according to Gail Hinshaw, president of OMUVS.
Located in Branson, MO, OMUVS is one of a number of huge, climate-controlled archival buildings across the country dedicated to the storage of confidential and sensitive documents and prized objects. Once the site of a dolomite rock quarry, now OMUVS is the secure home to valuable archived records and documents, microfilm, artwork, and evidence, for banks, insurance companies, government agencies, hospitals and private art collectors. Because it is built into a mountain, OMUVS is literally an “above ground underground” facility with 17- to 34-foot ceilings and 7 million square feet of available storage.
Mr. Hinshaw entrusted IDenticard partner Across America Security (AAS) to design and install OMUVS’ world-class security system, which exceeds standards specified by the U.S. Departments of Defense and Justice. “For access control, OMUVS chose IDentiPASS because of the system’s capabilities and because of IDenticard’s long-standing reputation as a reliable manufacturer,” said J.R. Rosselit, AAS founder and owner.
A key component of the Ozark Mountain facility’s aggressive security measures, IDentiPASS makes the logical decisions regarding access, based on programmed security parameters. IDentiPASS also maintains a comprehensive audit log of all activity at access-controlled doors. Additional components of OMUVS’ integrated security system include CCTV surveillance, digital video recording, alarm point monitoring, tamper-proof door switches, off-site video transmission, fingerprint biometrics, and multiple sensing technologies.
Government inspected and approved for archival records, this particle-free cave in a mountain is ideal for document storage. Located above the flood plain, OMUVS’ 65-degree, year-round temperature is compliments of Mother Nature and humidity is maintained mechanically at 70 percent. Its stabilized rock overburden (roof) is 47- to 160-feet thick.
OMUVS’ sophisticated features have set the stage for the expansion of secure storage options and the introduction of evidence storage facilities for local law enforcement agencies. Also underway are plans to maintain a “server farm” for companies that want to outsource both hard copy and digital records and archives.
